Examples Of Shallow Breasts (NSFW)

Shallow breasts is a loose term for breasts that have a broad base but not much projection. These breasts bring certain fitting challenges, especially if you have no idea that your breast shape is shallow and you wonder why nothing seems to fit. Here I would like to show you what shallow breasts look like.    A huge thanks to the women who have contributed these photos!
I have explained this breast shape in detail in this post. Here is a graphic to refresh your memory:
shallow breasts wide at the root
A reminder: shallow breasts is a loose term, and as you see here shallow breasts come in many different variations! Many of the ladies here haven't found their perfect bra yet. You can see the examples of the typical fit problems that hint at a shallow breast shape. The bra types that work best for this shape are those with shallow cups, open at the top.

Bust A:

Underbust 30.5" Bust 34"
Victoria's Secret 32C, demi, no padding, shaped cup:

Low-cut cups that are open at the top work well for this bust:

Bust B

   27" band - 32" bust - 28DD/26E. She used to wear 32B's.
"Cups typically being too deep, not filling out the top of cups... those are generally the traits of a shallow breast, which is common in smaller-busted women like us. Even in my straight-on pic you can see some wrinkling in the front of the cups where my boobs are not quite projecting enough to fill it all out. It can be a struggle to find cups suited for shallow breasts!"

Bust C

This woman was baffled by her shallow breast type and asked for help in her post on Bratabase (click for photos). At the time her measurements were: Band: 28", Bust Standing: 33", Bust Leaning: 34". The bra on the photos is from Change, a 28F, suggested by a bra saleslady.  "The cups are too wide for my body, close too quickly on the top and thus she kept upping my size and overall flattens me out. "

Photos below in a 30D La Senza Hello Sugar Front Closure Bra.
Current measurements: Band (break the tape, exhaled): 26", band (snug, exhaled): 27", bust (standing): 32" , bust (leaning): 33.5'

Warning: nekkid boobies after jump! NSFW!

I have (reluctantly) censored out the nipples out because I don't want the blog to get an adult rating.

Bust D:

"In the photo it's a 34D, but I normally wear a 32DD. The reason being the placement of my breasts requires a wider center gore. My breast tissue starts about two or three fingers below my collar bone."

The bra in the photo is a VS cotton Demi with a molded cup. I'm still in the process of finding the perfect bra, so that photo probably isn't the best for fit.":

Bust E:

Measurements: 31/36

"I've been wearing the right size for a few months now - I went from a 32B to a 32DD. I actually can't wear my proper band size, which would be a 28 or a 30. I have a disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa, which causes blisters with too much friction or pressure. If I go with my "proper" band size, I'll get blisters from the band. The 32 is perfect for me, because it's tight enough to not slide around, but not so tight as to cause blisters."

Below: Natori Feathers Contour and plunge bra. I actually forgot to scoop and swoop on this one (the horror!):

"Moulded cups, uniform thickness throughout, very little padding. I did have the bras sitting too low though, I didn't adjust them properly first in my haste to take the pictures":

Bust F:

Rib cage: 28", breast: 32" or 33" bust, nip to neck: 7.8", wears  30C/D  and/or 28D/DD.
"I am 4'11", 112 lbs (or so), and 24 years old. I am fairly athletic. I do powerlifting/climbing, but very little cardio. I would vouch that I have more muscles around my rib cage/back than your average person."

Bust G

"My measurements are 28 underbust, and 31.5 around the boobies."

Bust H -- Larger Shallow Breasts

Although most shallow breasts are of the smaller kind, larger breasts can be shallow too. Here is one example:

"I measure 31 inches underbust regularly, and 28.5 extremely tight.  Bending over, my bust is 43 inches and standing it is 40.5 inches.

I wear 28HH, but most people think I need a smaller size than that until they see how badly I spill out of smaller bras.  I have come to the conclusion that I'm one of the few people with larger breasts that has very shallow breasts.  I hope these can be of use to you.  I think if my breasts weren't as shallow, I would be full on bottom, but because of the shallowness, I work best in bras for full on top breasts.

I'm starting to blog about bras at Becoming A Sexy Beast."

Update for all those of you wondering about the marks: I get red marks even from my socks, it's just the way my skin behaves (something to do with water retention). I don't think that the redness means anything as long as the person doesn't feel any discomfort. Also, on the last photo the marks are disappearing, so I'm guessing the first one has been taken immediately after taking off her bra.

Thanks again to the ladies of r/ABraThatFits for the submissions! I got so many that I have saved some for another post about the fitting journey of busts E and F. After that I'm thinking to tackle another common but tricky-to-fit breast shape. Any suggestions?
