LINSEED HAIR RINSE / HAIR GEL
You need:
- Flax seeds: 1-3 Tbs (I've heard golden flax seeds have more hold, I haven´t tried this yet) (I find that 1 Tbs is enough for me, more than that adds too much volume (I have a lot of hair).)
- 1 cup water (distilled is better if you have hard water in you area)
- A sieve Optional:
- A pinch citric acid (optional) as a preservative
Boil linseed with water. The longer you cook it, the thicker it will be. You want thick if you´re making a hair gel, runny if you want a hair rinse. Also, the thicker it is, the more volume you get. Just remember that its runnier when hot, it will get thicker when cool.
Strain through a sieve. If it´s thicker than you want it, pour more hot water through the sieve. Use a spoon or your fingers to get the all of the gel to go through the sieve. Let it cool. If you want, you can blend it to improve the texture. As a hair rinse: After shampooing and rinsing out, use this as a last rinse. Do not rinse out ! Don't let your slimy hair scare you. Once dry, the linseed gel is imperceptible on your hair. It has no smell either. As hair gel: Apply on dry hair.
For curly hair: For eliminating frizz, try making a thicker gel. After washing when the hair starts drying and the curls form, scrunch your curls with hands lightly smeared with the linseed gel.
BTW linseed oil is used in expensive hair styling products :) Linseed in your diet also does wonders for the hair and skin :))
If any of you try this out, do let me know how it worked. Don't forget to mention your hair type !
